Daniel Scott Poggin, 23, was arrested at his Northside home after he was found dead on a property on the edge of Hillsborough.

His mother, Michelle Poggin, said she had never seen her son cry in such pain.

She said the moment she heard police say he had been killed was “unbelievable”.

“He had his head down and his hands up, it was just such a shock, the shock was not worth it,” she said.

Daniel Pogginn was arrested by Hillsborough Police on January 2.

His death is being investigated by the Hillsborough Coroner as a homicide.

Ms Poggint said she hoped that the incident would give the young man’s family the closure they had been looking for.

“My son loved his school, he was so proud of it, he had a really big heart, and his school was very important to him,” she told reporters outside the Hillsboro Police Station in Melbourne’s north.

“He was a proud member of his community.”
